--Describe an interest you have that you would truly hope your partner could share with you.
My interest in nature and all things that encompass it, from the largest to the smallest. I have always had an interest in all things natural and like to read about, research, and experience them.
--Describe an interest you have that you would truly hope your partner could share with you.:
First of all, I will be interested in my partner's activities, then I enjoy dancing, swimming & photography but I'm not a pro in any of these :-). I love traveling and visiting new places as I have already told you.
--Looking back at your life, describe one particular event that you wish you had handled differently.
My first relationship I ever entered into was a very abusive relationship in which I did not stand-up for what I believed in and I compromised myself to the point of not knowing who I was. But in saying that, through that journey of healing it has made me the person that I am today. My philosophy in life is that I give it my all, remain true to my principles, try my hardest, love and forgive unconditionally. And if it ends...I have no regrets because I have given it my best effort out of my common sense of duty...
--What is the one dream for your life you most look forward to having come true?:
A long, healthy retirement with enough money to do a little traveling, enjoy grandchildren, and volunteer in the community.
--They say life is about simple pleasures, what is your simplest pleasure, and how does it make you feel?:
Anything from reading to the arts, to sports can be a simple pleasure. A 'simple pleasure' for me equates to anything that allows you let go of everything but what you are doing and enjoy something so simply that you can regain a little piece of tranquility in the sea that is life.
--What are you looking for in a relationship partner?:
I don't need a caretaker or someone to provide material goods - I am willing to work for that myself just that sometimes one finds him/herself in situation that he/she would need to be hepled by the partner. You can still need another person though because they can fulfill the need for a confidence, unconditional love and cheering section during life's ups and downs.
--Tell me about your closest friend. How long have you known him/her; and what do you like best about him/her?
I don't have alot of friends around except those i work with.. I will say my closest friend will be my son.. He has been the source to my happiness.. We love each other so much.. He has been the only one by my side ever since his mom left ( Died).. I did my best for him as a single parent ( a responsible father)...
--Does life look good to you right now? Describe your current emotional health.
Besides you (my partner to be very soon), I am having a good living with my son and I am very much happy about that.. I am physically fit.. Don't have any kinda disease or something of that nature, I thank GOD for that... All that am looking for now is to meet that special someone like you and I think this is a good way to start...
--Looking back on your life, of what are you most proud?
Life is made up of ups and downs... In life, We all experience both good times and bad times. I would not be anywhere to answer this if you ask me some years ago. But I am very proud that, upon all that I went through in my life, I still see my self a very strong man ( Not by my might, but by my SPIRT SAYS THE LORD)...
--What is the one dream for your life you most look forward to having come true?:
The one dream I look forward to is to be financially debt free, to be doing the kind of work that makes me genuinely happy, and most of all to see my child grown and living independently and in love and happy. Also, to live a long healthy happy life with a loving woman thus with you... ( I think that is more than one dream!)
--How would you spend a romantic evening with someone you have been dating for more than one year?:
I would probably fix a dinner with her at home,... or go out to dinner, or a play or musical,or some event... and then come back home and kick back and watch a movie, or listen to some soft music and kiss and snuggle.
--What are you looking for in a relationship partner?:
I am looking for someone who is first and foremost, honest, smart, spiritual, good with her money, sensual, romantic, funny and humorous, thoughtful, genuine, hopefully no addictions, respectful and hopefully a handy woman around the house... these are a few descriptions that come to mind...
--When do you feel most afraid?
Only when my son is not at home with me at night. I am very much concern about him with that, I have been doing my best for him and as you can think of, it is hard being a single father. He has been the source of my happiness.. He needs that mother love but am not seeking for a replacement mother for him...
--What have you learned from past relationships?
I have learned that everything that I have been though in the past has made me who I am today. Good communication is very healthy. And more COMMUNICATION. Good things come in time! Always love with your entire heart!!! it might hurt but it's the only way to love...To not look at the exterior, to look at the heart and soul, to get out when you see the writing on the wall, that you can't change a person, love alone does not make a relationship work, sex is not love. That a relationship MUST have god at the head. I like the quote, LOVE is a CROSS; to give that mate your life is ultimatley to let go of self and believe that all things are possible for those who believe IN HIM.
--If you had three wishes, what would that be ?
Good housekeeping. It explains how to keep a relationship going. Reading makes me spend time with my son sleeping. Finding practical solutions to complicated situations.
--Describe your spirituality.
This is the easy one. I love Jesus so much. I am a born again Christian and know that I was a sinner and needed Him to take away my sin. I know that I am going to spend eternity with Him. I would like to be more involved in my church.. When people need someone to pray for them I am so willing to help in that seemingly small way.
--What do you most like to do on a day off?
Depends on the type of week I have had :) I actually like to do many things. If it has been a busy week I might spend time having a more reflective, low key weekend. I like to participate in my spiritual events, read, watch T.V. (limited), movies, go out to dinner, head into nature, and spend time with the family/friends. I also spend some time on weekends completing projects; planting, maintaining the house.
--Describe your spirituality. I'm a christian and i have a strong beleive in God.. I attend church almost every Week just so I can build my trust in christ...
--What is the best thing that you think your ex could say about you?
I think she might say that the interests I have in life, I live and experience deeply. My family and friends are very important to me as well as my beliefs.
--Describe some personal habits that are important to you.
I have always been a polite person and very respectful (since from childhood). I like going to church and practice what I learn. I feel proud that I take good care of my children. I am not the type who plays when working, I am not a lazy type man so to speak.
-- How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house? I would love to meet someone who can cook, shop and keep house.. I don't expect her to do that alone.. I like to help her in whatever she takes care of.. My partner should should be able to fufill traditional gender roses..
--Did you notice that I am taller than you? Is that an issue for you? Yeah i know you are taller than i am.. But do you think thats really important.. I have no problem with heights.. I beleive it's whats in the heart that counts.. I'm still interested in getting to know you Denise.. --Describe your parents' relationship with each other. My parents were happily married and they loved each other.. I lost my father some years back and thats how they got separated.. --How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house? Combination of above! Don't mind cleaning and shopping! Would love help cooking. Would love to have someone to "deal with car issues", handy around the house, etc. Depending on the relationship, might enjoy someone else managing finances!
--What is one thing you could start doing today that would most improve the quality of your life?: I would have to say it would be to slow my daily pace. Have a tendency to stay busy and have been a "workaholic" in past. As a nurse, there is always "someone" needing you. It could vary from MD office to student to hospital. --When do you feel most afraid?:
I havent felt afraid for a long time but when I was married my ex had a hard time staying at a job, so I could begin to read the signs as to when he would quit and that made me so afraid because then I was the bread winner. Did that make any sense?
--Tonight you can do anything you want, no penalties, no reprisals, and the cost is unimportant. What are you going to do?: I would love to go out with my son and dog, maybe supper, or a concert or even having supper at one of our houses. I wouldnt want to worry about time just having a nice relaxing time. I think I would like to try a different kind of food.
--How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house?
It is important to me that a couple works as a team which plays on each others strengths and supports each others weaknesses. If you have a strenght in something I don't, we can learn from each other, vise a versa or the person with the strenght can complete that task. I am not into gender roles. My father and mother both equally taught me how to take care of things when I was younger. An expert at cars I am not, lol but I can take care of the basics.
--In general, how many nights a week do you go out for entertainment? What sorts of things do you like to do when you go out on the town?:
The committments that I have right now cannot let me go out lot, but when I happen to I enjoy watching movies and dining out.
--How big is your extended family? What are the holidays like for you and your family?:
My family is just my son and I. We spend big holidays with friends or just enjoy the time on our own. --Are you doing what you love? If not, what would you rather be doing?:
It intriques me that you ask this question. Yes, in many ways I am doing what I love to do. I am mission driven and I can't go to work, just to work. I go to work as an act of love to God and to others. Yet, there is one thing that I would love to being doing, that I'm not able to do---is to be the Mom, to care for a husband, children, and home. I simply don't have the ability to do that on the level I desire because I am a single parent and I must work. I desire to grow professionally and to achieve more, but someday, I would like to be home more.
--How do you act when you're angry?:
This question is really an interesting one. Hopefully, you mean now, at this season of my life. In the past, I have been very out of control with anger. I was fathered by rage. However, my Heavenly Father promises that He can reproduce within me, who He is. I'm counting on that. I am working hard to gain self control and use conflict management and negotiation. A favorite book is called the PeaceMaker. In my heart, that is what I desire to be...with Christ, all things are possible.
--What is the best thing an ex could say about you?:
I did the best I could to be loving and to do what was right. I have made peace with ex#1. We have table fellowship with our children. I hope to have peace with ex#2. It may not occur in this life and I have to accept it. How about you? --Describe an interest you have that you would truly hope your partner could share with you.:
There are alot of things to choose from, but most important to me is I want to be able to attend church on Sunday morning with my partner.
--What is the one dream for your life you most look forward to having come true?:
I recently quit a job of 7 years that I hated from day one but was made to go to work everyday by my ex-husband. I choose to pursue a career in the direct sales field. So my wish is that I can develop a successful team and be financially secure through this leap of faith I have taken. It is also HIGHLY important to me that whatever partner I choose support me emotionaly through the ups and downs of this venture.
--In general, how many nights a week do you go out for entertainment? What sorts of things do you like to do when you go out on the town?:
I am not currently seeing anyone or really going out for entertainment. I would like to go to movies and dinner, see a good somewhat clean speaking comic if that is possible. I also would just to go for a ride and see the sights in different towns etc. Really can be content at home if it is with the right person. --What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?:
moved from NY to Wisconsin for my ex-wife.
--What is one thing you could start doing today that would most improve the quality of your life?:
I don't really know how to answer this right at this moment. I think my life is going pretty well now, I have my own place, and a job I enjoy which is paying better than I've had in a long time. I have my son who is turning out to be good kid with decent grades and haven't been in trouble. I guess the one thing I could improve on would be to start exercising a little more. Since I started basically a "desk" job again I've noticed I'm not in as good shape as I was previously. I'm not quite sure where I'd find the time though. On the whole though, I'm fairly satisfied with my life right now, except for having that special someone to share it with.
--What do you find physically attractive? :
I'm not so concerned with what is on the outside, I am more concerned with how people treat each other, and what is expected of each other. What makes me happy is someone who is as interested in me and I am in her, who wants to know about my day, and likes to cuddle on the couch, or who likes to go out and help in the yard or whatever. I guess if I had to pick one physical attraction to really answer the question, is that I"m attracted to strong arms. --What are your political beliefs?:
I vote for the person, but primarily, infact most of the time, democratic. I have moderate to liberal views on issues.
--Are you doing what you love? If not, what would you rather be doing?:
I love my job and my clients and I am completely satisfied doing this. I am working on my PhD though and enjoy teaching, so I may blend my work with teaching or end up teaching full-time.
--Describe your ideal man/woman.:
My ideal woman would be a loving, caring, empathetic person who can laugh and relax with me as well as have great adventures together. They would be willing to be involved in my son's life as I would be willing to be involved in their children's lives if they have children. They need to be supportive in my endeavors as I would be in theirs.
--If you could do something totally out of character and remain anonymous what would you do?:
I would play in a rock and roll band, not heavy metal but maybe fleetwood mac type or Collective soul. Be fun to play the drums and the electrical guitar. Go on tour to a bunch of different countries
--If they were making a movie about your life, what would it be called and which actor would play you?:
Hmmmm I always thought this would be a tough question to answer so I will give it a try, let's see it would be comedy and it would be called "I'm not dead yet" kind ofa monty python spoof title, but the movie would not be monty python type. The actress to play me I would have loved Madeline Kahn, she is not alive, so next choice would be either Ashley Judd or Michelle Pfieffer.
--Describe the worst date you've ever been on.:
well it has been a long time ago. It was a double date and my date had a little too much to drink and well we were dancing and he decided that he was going to do some cheerleading moves and did v jumps on the dance floor. It was rather embarrasing and of course the alcohol behaviour was also a bit much.
--What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?:
Went to Toronto Canada for 6 weeks, accepted the job assignment without hesitation.
--How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house?:
It is important to me and I do feel that it equally important to work as with your partner to achieve a common goal. I feel that each should fulfill their strenghts in the relationship.
--What do you most like to do on a day off?:
I normally stay around the house and clean spend as much free time with my Daughter (quality time). I do spend a time with my partents especially if they need my assistance. I am very traditional in the part that family comes first. I also like trying to go new places if my time off is extended.
--What is the most adventuresome thing you've done in the past year?:
Considering that I was born and raised in Germany and lived here my entire life, this was an amazing experience for me. I would have loved to have shared the experience with a partner.
--Describe your own personal style.:
I'm not sure what is meant by this, but I'll give it a shot. In working with people, I am compassionate, gentle and fun loving. I can also be direct when I need to understand something more or if I need someone's assistance. I'm more on the quiet side, more introverted than extroverted, but not necessarily shy. I'm very open-minded about things that improve the quality of life for all.
--How would you spend a romantic evening with someone you have been dating for more than one year?:
There are different ways that I would like to spend a romantic evening with a serious partner. I would love to help cook a meal together with someone, read some romantic books/ passages; and let the evening happen. This is a little hard to answer for a stranger. I would also love to go for a walk , talk, and ... Or, get massages together then go out to dinner, take a walk on the beach, etc... I think there are many creative options for this question. :) Thanks for asking.
--During a typical week, what sort of physical activities do you enjoy?:
I have an elliptical machine which I try to work out on routinely and is extremely easy on my knee. Outside of that I will sometimes get out on a walk in the park time permiting. Since my knee surgery last year I've recently gone on a hike in Cloudcroft, NM and hope to do more hiking in the future.
--What is the most adventuresome thing you've done in the past year?:
I have made a few trips to Alamogordo, Carlsbad Caverns, Ruidoso and Cloudcroft. I had some family come in from out of town and enjoyed showing them the sites. I wouldn't mind going back to Carlsbad Caverns and doing one of the more rigorous tours deeper into the cave but still trying to see how well my knee endures these types of activities.
--How big is your extended family? What are the holidays like for you and your family?:
My parents are both deceased. Of my siblings I have one sister and one brother living here in El Paso (one has passed on). My other two brothers live in California. I have three nieces and one nephew all of which live out of town. My brother and sister always join me for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner at my home. We often spend Christmas Eve together at my brother's as he has a traditional get together. I still have a close relationship with my former husband's family (he is deceased)and share the holidays with them as well as many other get togethers. My children recently lost their fraternal grandmother but the family still includes us as much as possible to maintain the continuity of such a tight knit family. My former husband was one of ten children and so my children have approx. 16 cousins so it is always a large gathering at their house. I truly feel they are still my family and am very glad they still accept my children and me as such. --Besides love, what one trait have you noticed in couples that have maintained a successful relationship for many years?:
an opened line of communication
--Looking back at your life, describe one particular event that you wish you had handled differently.:
I WOULD HAVE TO SAY THAT IT WOULD HAVE TO BE WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL I MADE A DECISION NOT TO CONTINUE A RELATIONSHIP WITH A FRIEND FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS. I FEEL NOW THAT THE BASIS FOR MY DECISION AT THAT TIME WERE TRIVIA AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN HANDLED DIFFERENTLY.
--Why did you join eHarmony?:
BECAUSE I FEEL THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT I COULD MEET MY SOUL MATE AND I DIDN'T WANT TO MISS OUT ON THAT OPPORTUNITY. --What do you find physically attractive? :
I'm attracted to 'happy' and 'confident'. I think it's something that gets communicated within the first few minutes of meeting someone. And I'm always impressed when someone likes themselves enough to be exactly who there are - now that is attractive!!
--What do you think are the three best traits you have to offer a partner?:
1. I'm finally comfortable in my own skin and like who I am. Yes!! 2. Whoever I love, I give my all to - friends and family. 3. I'm passionate - life excites me and I want to live everyday like it counts for something bigger than just me.
--Why did you join eHarmony?:
I've been single awhile and feel ready to open myself to possibilities.
--How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house?:
I think life has shown us that traditional gender roles are a thing of the past. I believe it's both parties responsibility to take care of house duties and cooking. If one particular partner is better with finances, then that partner should handle the finance or both partners can manage finances
--If you could accomplish only one thing during the rest of your life, what would it be?:
Keep my home a "happy" home filled with love and support. Always empowering my son with knowledge / support of making a better life for him.
--What do you think are the three best traits you have to offer a partner?:
Accountability Honesty Uncondiditonal support
--What is the one dream for your life you most look forward to having come true?:
My one dream is to wake up every day next to someone who loves me for me. If this dream comes true then my days and nights will be filled with love, laughter, adventure and peace.
--What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?:
As a single person I like being spontaneous, not on a daily basis, but spontanaity keeps life interesting. My friends know that I am usually game for most adventures. I have been to Chicago, Colorado, and Arizona for unexpected weekends with Cheryl, who loves to travel but doesn't like to go alone. (Cheryl is my brother's girlfriend) If I had to choose one adventure I would say when I was visiting a friend in Idaho. She set me up on a raft ride down the Salmon river. Karol shared this with me at 2am (we were out listening to a band) and I had to be ready to go at 5am. The catch was I had to drive a car from the end of the trip to a small town airport 20 minutes away from her home and find my own way back. The raft ride was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. This was some years ago but it was the most memorable because of the beauty of what I saw and the fear of walking along an unknown highway at dusk by myself.
---They say life is about simple pleasures, what is your simplest pleasure, and how does it make you feel?:
My simplest pleasure is sitting on the swing in my backyard watching the finches come to the feeders. I love the feel of the sun warming me, the picturesque sky, and the peaceful feeling I get from the quiet of the moment.
--Looking back at your life, describe one particular event that you wish you had handled differently.:
I can honestly say that there isn't anything I would change about what has transpired in my life. Even the most difficult parts were those that made me who I am today, and I really believe in the phrase what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I might handle something differently today than I did years ago, but I did the best I could with what I knew at the time. Everyone does, whether our perception is that they know better or not.
--What are your general feelings about money and personal wealth?:
Money is nice to have to exchange for things or experiences, but it's not the reason I live or work. I spend it when I have it, and when I do spend it, I am in thrift stores or on ebay - rarely do I buy something completely new. I drive a Saturn sedan. I don't have cable tv. I believe in recycling as often as possible, using the library, and enjoy the hunt for a quality item that is used. My personal wealth can be gauged in the relationships I have with my family and friends, which are priceless, and in my attitude, which is a rarity.
--How would you describe your childhood relationship with your mother and/or father?:
My parents were not emotionally available while I was growing up, and I suffered because of it. But having said that, I wouldn't have started looking around for clues as to the meaning of life as early as I did, and made the discoveries I have along the way, had it not been for that situation. Now that I am an adult, our relationship is much better. They probably shouldn't be together, but they are, and make the best of it. --Does life look good to you right now? Describe your current emotional health.:
Yes, my life is good at this time but it could always be better. Besides, turning 40 next month I'm great. I look at things differently and I am not a hot head like I was in my 20's.
--What are your political beliefs?:
On what? Are we speaking of Education, Health, or my views on the war? Education is the power of the mind and you can go far with it. Health, I wish people did not have to decide between eating and medicine, going to the doctor or keeping their utilities on. I have my beliefs but I will have an open mind and listen to other views.
--If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?:
When I am with my 20 year old son, they think I'm his girlfriend so I guess I will not need any surgeries right now LOL... I really like myself, but if I have to change one thing it would be not assuming so much. I tend to draw my own conclusions when not given more details on a situation.
--Besides love, what one trait have you noticed in couples that have maintained a successful relationship for many years?:
I believe communication is of utmost importance.
--Describe some personal habits that are important to you.:
I Wake up Early Morning Dress up with a professional appearance which includes being spit shined from head to toe!! LOL..Just want you to get Smi
--Describe an interest you have that you would truly hope your partner could share with you.:
I enjoy the outdoors whether it's trail walking, horseback riding, tennis, snow skiing, or simply walking on the beach. --What do you think are the three best traits you have to offer a partner?:

Yes, it does I don't have a lot of stress in my life so far everything is good.
--What are your political beliefs?:
I don't vote, Because I"m a Jehovah's Witness. --When do you feel most afraid?:
When I percieve myself to be in risk of physical harm. Working as a nurse, sometimes I am in the presence of someone who is "out of control". This and being in front of a male who is agressively yelling scare me.
--Describe your own personal style.:
I am friendly and view my role in the world to be someone to stand before others and show them how truely wonderful they are. I am a free-thinker. I try to be "open at the top" being willing to learn the lessons as my spirit grows through life experiences.
--How would you spend a romantic evening with someone you have been dating for more than one year?:
Perhaps an evening out at a nice restaurant, then back to either one's home to "whisper sweet nothings" in one anothers' ear. I love to snuggle, cuddle and kiss and experience intimacy with my partner. --Besides love, what one trait have you noticed in couples that have maintained a successful relationship for many years?:
I think being honest and hanging in there thru good and bad times. Keeping the relationship fresh and interesting so nobody gets board.
--What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?:
When I took a helacopter from Long Beach to Catalina with my son for the fun of it at the last minute. We stayed all day ,it was alot of fun and he still talkes about it..
--What is the one dream for your life you most look forward to having come true?:
I look forward to my kids growing up to be successful independent adults. At that point, I would like to travel and go visit places that I have not been before (or to revisit some of my favorite places).
--In general, how many nights a week do you go out for entertainment? What sorts of things do you like to do when you go out on the town?:
As a single Dad with 2 small children, we go out as a family at least once a week. We like to bowl, play putt putt, go to the movies, or do local activities. When the kids aren't around, I enjoy playing pool, dancing, going to the movies, taking walks, and spending time with good friends.
--If you had three wishes, what would they be?:
1. To watch my kids grow to be successful adults; 2. To have the chance to travel and visit new places; 3. To balance family and work (which is an impossible dream, because my family always comes first.) --What have you learned from past relationships?:
To trust that little voice that is talking to you... that you just really don't want to listen to at the time, it is always right whether we like it or not
--What is the best thing an ex could say about you?:
I did an incredible job raising the kids without him
--If you could do something totally out of character and remain anonymous what would you do?:
I would blow my whole already spoken for paycheck...leaving unexpected money for those less fortuneate then me like paying for someone gas or meals...and just keep walking so they did not see who did it because I know it could be and can be worse, and I think many forget that, I know I do much too easily:) --What do you think are the three best traits you have to offer a partner?:
My honesty I treat people as I wish myself to be treated. I like to be kind and fair I am passionate about life and the things I do Spirituality I have a strong belief in God and I have always had my faith. I believe that our faith helps us take the right path for us to be a better person, hopefully that is something we all strive to be in our life. Optimism I try and see everything in a positive light and never want to be that person who sees the worse in everything or anyone. I like been a loving and caring person.
--What are your general feelings about money and personalwealth?:
Money means absolutely nothing to me without happiness you cannot buy love, health or happiness. Having enough money to pay the bills and do the stuff you want is great but I wouldn't trade a cent to give up a fraction of my happiness, love or health
--What are your political beliefs?:
I am conservative in my beliefs myself but also like to hear other peopleís views. I like someone who has convictions in what they believe than been apathetic. --What do you most like to do on a day off?:
Sometimes I just like a quiet time at home watching movies, listening to good music. I like all types of music, oldies, classical, jazz, country, contemporary christian. I like writing letters and of course my favorite, Shopping! Not really, I'm not materialistic but I do enjoy to going out to shop occasionally. I enjoy walks, camping (although it's been quite a few years since I've been). Sometimes I just love to get in my car and drive, taking scenic routes to enjoy the beauty of God's creation. Simple things make me happy.
--Describe your spirituality.:
I love God with all my heart. I'm not perfect and don't pretend to be. But I try to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to God. I've been living for the Lord since December 20, 1990 when I gave my heart and life to him. Since that day my life has never been the same. I would never want to go back to who I was before I knew who God is. I can't imagine my life without him in it. I strive to be the man he has called me to be. I start my day with devotionals and prayers. He is the first person I say good morning to. I love praise and worship, it helps me draw nearer to the Lord. I attend church service every Sunday. Early in my walk with the Lord I asked him for boldness. He absolutely gave it to me! I love to share with others what God had done for me. I love to witness as the Spirit leads and there are no strangers when it comes to sharing the love of God. My one desire is to find the plan and purpose he has for my life and live it until he calls me home.
--What have you learned from past relationships?:
We are all unique and have different likes and dislikes. But we can come to a common ground and accept each other for who "we" are. Relationships are hard but with God in the center they can survive. We have to give 100% it isnt't just 50/50 as they say. I've learned not to go bed angry, but to talk things out and work through whatever conflicts may come. In my weakness she can be my stength, in her weakness I can be her strength. Where I lack she can make up for it and where she lacks I can make up for it. We come together in a perfect fit like a glove. --In general, how many nights a week do you go out for entertainment? What sorts of things do you like to do when you go out on the town?: Since, I still have children at home I attend their sports or school events during the week. On the weekend, I love to go to the movies, read, spend time with my family. Not much of a shopper. Working too hard for my money to blow it.
--How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house?: Traditional roles can be nice but not a necessity. My kids help with chores and my son knows how to cook, clean and do laundry. Traditional roles are changing so I would hope we could figure out what would work for us.
--What are your general feelings about money and personal wealth?: Personal wealth means more than money wealth to me. The most important job I've been given is to raise my children and provide. That doesn't mean I have to have a ton of money to raise good kids. One of my favorite verses is "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap the harvest if we do not give up."
--What is the most adventuresome thing you've done in the past year?: I played tennis on grass and clay courts at the international tennis hall of fame in Newport, Rhode Island.
--How big is your extended family? What are the holidays like for you and your family?: I have and identical twin sister, a younger sister, baby sister and two brothers. I have 31 first cousins on my mom's side and 4 first cousins on my dad's side. My parents have asked that we,(my brothers and sisters) always spend Thanksgiving and Easter with them. The other holidays I always spend with my son and daughter.
--What is the most spontaneous thing you have ever done?: On two occasions my best girlfriend and I decided at the last minute to fly out once to Dallas and once to Austin without having made hotel reservations and we had a great time. I'm always looking for live music and I am a sports freak. --How important is it to you that your partner fulfill traditional gender roles? Would you like a woman who will cook, shop and keep house? Would you like a man who maintains the cars, manages the finances, and is handy around the house?:
Not too many things are gender specific anymore; so not too important. Got your e-mail; thanks. I may extend my e-harmony membership today.
--What do you most like to do on a day off?:
Relax, prepare food to vacuum pack and freeze for later, watch TV shows that I have recorded.
--What is one thing you could start doing today that would most improve the quality of your life?:
Send love and give more thanks... --Do you have any pets? Which types of animals do you love to be around?:
I had a dog for 10 years that died this past April. He was a Papillion, a toy breed. I've not yet replaced him yet but have been thinking about it a lot.
--Why did you join eHarmony?:
I joined around 2 weeks ago because I thought that it was a reliable method of meeting compatible men. I had been thinking of joining for over 2 months then finally did so. Personally, I'm not very fond of the dating scene and thought that this was a good way of filtering out someone who I had nothing in common with.
--Are you doing what you love? If not, what would you rather be doing?:
Yes, I am doing what I love. I'm doing it by choice and it's been very fulfilling. It's been a new journey for me and I'm happy that I chose it.
--When do you feel most afraid?:
Being in the military i have learned to not be afraid of much and right now i can't really think of an answer. I am just not someone who is afraid.
--Tonight you can do anything you want, no penalties, no reprisals, and the cost is unimportant. What are you going to do?:
hum.....good question. I would have to say i would take my sweetie to a island for a romantic get away.
--What do you think are the three best traits you have to offer a partner?:
Love, honesty, respect --How would you spend a romantic evening with someone you have been dating for more than one year?:
I would enjoy having a meal in a nice restaurant, and then go for a leisurely walk. Possibly listen to music and talk once we get back to either one of our homes OR watch a movie that both of us would like...again in either of our homes.
--Looking back at your life, describe one particular event that you wish you had handled differently.:
I can't think of any particular event that I would have handled differently, but I should have handled things (on an every day process) differently concerning my ex-mother-in-law. Now, as I look back, I should have been more assertive, and displayed more confidence in my skills and abilities. I realize now that I was and am the one in control of my response to others and their actions/words and that in the past I allowed her (and probably others) to make me feel inferior.
--What do you think are the three best traits you have to offer a partner?:
My best traits would be loyality, patience and demonstrating love. --If you could accomplish only one thing during the rest of your life, what would it be?:
To sing....I want to sing with the angels in heaven! I remember the show Touched by an Angel, where the one angel could not sing, but always wanted to, I feel like her....
--Looking back at your life, describe one particular event that you wish you had handled differently.:
I wish I had treated my ex-fiance differently after we learned he had cancer 3 months before the wedding. I don't really want to go into much more detail at this moment, but will at a later time.
--How would you describe your childhood relationship with your mother and/or father?:
You know how to pick the questions! Lets see, my mom and dad were divorced before I was 2. My mom, brother and I lived with my grandparents for almost 9 years. My grandmother became my mom and was a wonderful person, loving, caring, nurturing and godly woman. My grandfather was a bank president, and very strict. My mom was usually absent, working, dating and socializing. I hardley remember her during those years. My dad occasionally came around, he was remarried, with other children, an alcholic, and womanizer. When I was 10 my mom remarried and my brother and I went to live with them. My stepfather adopted my bother and I when I was 12. After that I never saw my bioligical dad again. He died when I was 14. My relationship with my parents now is not close, not what I wish it would be, but workable. I have a great life now and have learned thru the years to let go, not hold onto the past, forgive, and live in the present with the Lord by my side. --If you could do something totally out of character and remain anonymous what would you do?:
This one is tough....maybe something like,well...I can't think of anything....how about a pole dance, or be like robin hood and share some of the super wealthy peoples' money with the super poor.
--If they were making a movie about your life, what would it be called and which actor would play you?:
I'm a Survivor, Reba MacIntire
--Describe the worst date you've ever been on.:
It was a blind date, a friend of a friend, talked on the phone a few times, went to a movie and didn't talk the whole time, went home and never talked again.
--If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?:
I would have made better choices in my past. I'm not going through life saying "poor me" but if I knew then what I know now my choices would have been totally different. I am thankful for my past because it has brought me a lot of great things that I am thankful for but I think it may have been a little easier if I would have turned left instead of right. The most important thing I have gained from my past is experience and knowledge and because of that I can look to the future without wearing those rose colored glasses.
--What have you learned from past relationships?:
I will take it slow and when I get married again it will be for all the right reasons. I have never found my soul mate and I am not going to settle this time until I am sure. I want to fall in love. I have never been truly in love and the next time it will be that head over heals in love or I just got a new friend.
--What is the best thing an ex could say about you?:
I am one of his best friends. It didn't happen overnight but through the years we were able to renew our friendship. He was a good friend for many years before we got married and I am happy to say we will be friends for life.
--What are your political beliefs?:
I don't share my political beliefs, I research the candidates and decide based on how they feel about the issues that are important to me. It is a very personal thing for me.
--Do you have any pets? Which types of animals do you love to be around?:
I currently don't have pets. I had 2 beagles last year and both went to Dog Heaven. They were 16 and 13 years old male and female. I love Dogs, I love horses, I am allergic to cats in the house, but they are OK outside. Fish entertain me. Not much of a reptile person.
--Why did you join eHarmony?:
I would like to remarry some day and the other dating services are more for quick romances and not lasting relationships. I want my next marriage to last forever and a day. I want it to be right on all levels. So maybe this is worth taking a chance. --How would you spend a romantic evening with someone you have been dating for more than one year?:
I like to find reasons to celebrate things, the first month of being together, the first time going to a movie, love picnics and always looking for a reason to do one as they can be very romantic, so my answer would have to be in relation to how we would celebrate the little things in our lives. Cold night, a romantic evening might be to put on the fire and curl up with a good book and read to each other. Or, making a special meal together - something complicated that would require both working at preparation. Going out for a meal in a quiet corner of a favourite restaurant would be another suggestion. Or, just putting on the "q" and relaxing, taking the time to cook the meal and to eat it. I really feel that it is dependent upon how the couple had decided to define "romantic". What is romantic to one person can be totally different to another.
--If you could do something totally out of character and remain anonymous what would you do?:
I did something totally out of character and remained anonymous to everyone but my friend. My friend is a Pharmacist. She was working late one Sunday evening on a long weekend so I went in to the place to see how she was doing. There were people everywhere, standing at the counter, sitting on the floor, in the chairs, waiting for their prescriptions to be filled. Actually, I don't remember the place being so full. I picked up a box of condoms and went to the counter where she was standing. She was expecting me to ask her how she was but instead, in a rather loud voice I asked her where the fitting rooms could be found. She asked me why I needed fitting rooms and I produced the box of condoms and stated that the man standing beside me would like to try them on before purchasing them. She just about killed me. The guy did not know what to say. I left quitely and had my laugh when I got to the car.
--Describe the worst date you've ever been on.:
Oh, my goodness, this was years ago. The guy was a black dude who wanted to take me to a Jamaican festival. Refused to come to the front door to pick me up as he was concerned that my father would not approve. Should have guessed then. We attended the festival that was really great but I spent the entire time fight him off. Fortunately, I found the ladies room had 2 entrances. I left by the second entrance and headed home. Never heard from him again. --What is the one dream for your life you most look forward to having come true?:
I one dream that I would love to come true would to be able to stop searching for my life partner, to finally be accepted to the person I am and to be able to share a lifetime of memories, looking forward to grow old with them, and most of all be finally an active part of my own Family unit. I come from a large family and I am the only kid who has not yet married. I yearn to have what my sibling have they all have long marriage and loving families.
--What do you find physically attractive? :
A man who is happy with who he is,comfortable enough with me that I get to know the real him. Someone who doesn't necessarily have to speak to show his emotions and who is affectionate. A nice bod would be nice not I am sure how I feel about facial hair as I never been with a man who had a beard or moustache, it probably just tickles.
--How would you describe your childhood relationship with your mother and/or father?:
I come from a close knit family, Mom and Dad, and my six siblings, even Granny lived with us for years. My Dad was the kind of man who helped out Mom when ever he could there was never a power struggle between them. After having us kids Mom later took on got a job where she was the larger bread winner and the extra monies were simply perceived as a blessing never thought in a negative manner. I am a person who likes helping others so taking on the task as primary caregiver to my elderly parents was never considered a chore. I simply loved my close relationship that I had with my both parents as I felt wanted, loved and happy. Now during through many years never had time to build a network of friends, so when they passed I felt so alone even though my family is around my current location. All the while growing up we would host Euchre tournaments on Friday nights with my Aunts and Uncles, those nights were a blast time to hear and share memories and storied from times gone by.
